Family Meal Planner (“MealPlanner”, “we”, “us”) helps families plan meals, manage recipes, and generate shopping lists. This policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Data we collect
- Meal data you enter: family member names, dietary notes, recipes, ingredients, instructions, optional nutrition fields, and weekly meal assignments.
- Local browser storage: meal data is cached in your browser’s localStorage on your device.
- Account data (when you sign in): email and identity information processed by Clerk (Apple, Google, or email sign-in); display name you choose; a device identifier used for sync conflict resolution.
- Cloud sync (when enabled and signed in): recipes, family members, and in-window meal plans stored on our servers (Neon Postgres, hosted via Vercel).
Data we do not collect
- No advertising, analytics, or cross-app tracking SDKs.
- No access to contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or location.
- No sale of personal data.
Third-party services
- Clerk — authentication (sign-in with Apple, Google, or email).
- Neon — encrypted database storage for synced meal data.
- Vercel — hosting and serverless API functions.
How we use data
We use your data only to provide meal planning features: saving recipes, planning meals, generating shopping lists, and (when signed in) syncing your personal household across devices.
Account deletion
If you create an account, you can delete it in the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your cloud meal data and sign-in identity. Type DELETE to confirm.
Clear All Data in Settings removes local browser storage only; it does not delete your account or cloud data.
You may export cloud data before deletion via Settings → Account → Export cloud data.
Children
MealPlanner is a general-audience utility app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Retention
Local data remains on your device until you clear it or uninstall the app. Cloud data is retained while your account is active and deleted when you delete your account.
